Nothing in this world will equip you like Christ does!
“Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules” Col 2:20
Hello sweet Mummas,
Welcome to this week! What a joy it is to shine today!! Did you know that darkness runs away from light. If you put both darkness and light in the same room, light will always win! yay! Let’s remember through our children’s big emotions, spilt milk and lateness to activities… that our light can outshine any struggle they may be presenting. We just need to stand firm in our peace and show our kiddos we are the safe leaders in their life.
You have such a shiny bright light inside of you. You are seen! keep shining and the ONE who sees you will strengthen you and reward you for your hard work!!
This brings me to ask… how are you going with THE GENTLESSNESS CHALLENGE?!?!
Shoot me an email back to chat through any aspects of it, would love to hear any fruit from your challenge!! I have definitely not been as focused this time around and forgotten about the challenge many times. AND I have also been anchored in the challenge through certain trials that have come up and allowed the challenge to graciously remind me of my stance when I do stumble. It has been SUPER helpful for the first week of the month when I faced a few triggering problems for me with my kids and I shut my mouth and instead of overthinking or outwardly worrying I submitted it to the Lord and pressed into trust. Super grounding!!
Real Life in the motherhood journey:
Here are some pics below of what we have gotten up to this week! We had a relaxed week after having our family friends visit for the weekend. We cuddled up as the cold really calm in now that its winter and enjoyed frost covered grounds (along with our drinking water tank freezing when we wake up in the morning). We have done baking, school and enjoying time with our friends. As for me being a mumma this week - its felt very blessed as my kiddos grow in playing independently and I switched our daily routine up by bringing an in-forced nap time for the two boys as it was becoming evident this was needed (after almost a yr of no naps with my 2 yr old and 2 years of no naps for my 4 yr old. for some reason now it is needed.) It felt very empowering to be reminded that I am in control of our days and can move things around to what suits us for each changing season.
Get some ideas!
Our current daily routine:
5am - mum and dad wake up and try sneak in a shower/God time before the kiddos
5-6am - kids wake up
6am - breakfast time
7am -9:30 kitchen and dinning room clean up, free play for the kids, getting kids dressed and hair and teeth done
9:30-11/:30 homeschool time
12pm lunch and read aloud
12:30 - boys down for a 30 minute lie down (sometimes fall asleep)
12:30-2pm rest/quiet time
2pm - 4pm connection time with mummy (book reading/tramp jumping ect) and then outside play
4pm-5pm afternoon chores and bath time, mum starts dinner
5:30pm dinner time
6pm-6:30 family time/book reading time
6:30/7pm Kids bed time, mumma clean up kitchen/puts (attempts) baby down
8:30/9 mummas bed time 😄
Walking in His truth:
As you would have seen from the bible verse of today …. we are encouraged in Colossians that we are being urged to not follow the ways of this world (and this passage specifically… the religious expectations we or others can place on ourselves to need to meet to be ‘right’) when Christ our beautiful saviour has done all the hard work for us, giving us the free gift of grace. We can so easily slip into this for motherhood also… feeling like we have all these rules we must follow in order to be a good mum or do things rightly. This passage speaks about how trying hard to follow all the rules may look good in the outward, but truely dont make any difference to actually bringing the flesh to change. As we know mummas our battle is not against a screaming toddler or a house filled with mess. It is against the spiritual principalities and the lies that can sometimes consume our minds.
The ONLY force that can change the flesh, that can lift you up, strengthen you as a mumma and guide you in a way of peace is the power of the Holy Spirit.
Are you taking time in your day to listen?
Are you taking time in your day to still your (very busy) mind?
It doesnt have to be much if you are feeling pulled thin. Its more a change of the posture of your heart. A choice to stop and acknowledge HE is here and He is speaking and guiding you. Humility welcomes Him in.
Praise be to God who has everything we need in our mundane, in our difficult or in our overwhelmingly wonderful. His hand is stretched out to guide us in grace. No rule following in the practices of this world can bring any true lasting strength. It’s all Him. And He is good.
Love always
