Motherhood Journey Newsletter Week 2

Calming Our Nervous Systems - The Rock We Stand On

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Hello sweet Mummas,

I hope you are all going well and are ready for a life and purposed filled week with your little ones. This week I have a cool Jesus, nervous system regulating tip that I got given in my quiet time this morning that I am going to share below and I truely hope it can help you in those times when your little ones may be needing a bit much from you all in one moment! Lets dive into this email with our coffees in hand and hopefully a quiet moment for you to read, or maybe left over vegemite toast from your kids breakfast and a toddler climbing on your back (as my two year old somehow always uses me as a climbing tool whenever I choose to lower myself in a sitting position. haha!). Either way… lets do this together!

Real Life in the motherhood journey:

This last week we have gotten up to lots of fun things. When people ask me about my day or week, I always include the word FUN. Because life with many littles is always fun as they bring bountiful amounts of energy, giggles, creativity and curiosity. Its our choice to jump on board, and since I’m here with them intensionally, I want to choose to be here with them intensionally - you know, have purpose behind my actions and choices.

A little glimpse from our week….
This week was a little more normal which was very nice after an extra special one previously (with a visit from my parents and lots of apple projects, see last weeks email!) however it did end with my hubbys birthday on Sunday which was super special - because he is a super special man! I also did my first session of ‘work’ for a couple of hours, spent on this platform while the kids played outside with their Mama which is a very special new season. We dove into our homeschool this week starting our Easter - death and resurrection study, spent a bit of extra time on housework as that is often the task I push to the side when so many fun projects are going on, visited a friends old historical beautiful farm home and on the wknd spent time out in town at the markets and getting indonesian food, church and pizza to celebrate the main man!
(This weeks sharing is from two weeks ago! I will make sure we are caught up on next weeks email to be up to date with real life!)

Share of the week: This is an audio story my kids love listening to in their quiet time (note there are some episodes he refers to the eveolutionary perspective which we talk with our kids before had of what the bible teaches). https://open.spotify.com/show/710fDAjmf9LJ8LlV4TF7Su?si=b95627ffe35d498f

Walking in His truth:
This week I would like to share with you a little snippet from my journal, referring to an image and truth that came to mind about dealing with overwhelm or over stimulation with your kiddos. I am going to be meditating on this truth, image and the assigned physical action to hopefully help my nervous system regulated when I feel flooded.

“ My children are not a burden to me. When many cries come, tugging of my clothes and curious questions, I remember I am a strong tower of safety built on top of a rock. I don’t sway and crumble. I stand firm and provide light and safety for all who come near to me. When my brain starts to mush and break, I tap my feet on the ground to remind me of what I am standing on - the solid rock of Jesus which IS enough to keep me up. I place in order which child needs my attention first and then I calmly (without hurry) address them as I take a few deep breaths. Reminding myself I am here for this. I am their peace.“

Join me this week by remembering that you have chosen Jesus, the rock which makes you unmovable. Listen to His words and apply them (in faith and surrender) and you will enjoy the benefits of not falling from side to side. Physically tap your feet to remind yourself of this picture and let’s see if we can be the peace makers, bringers and keepers of our homes. together.

Love always
