Let your Yes be YES and No be NO!
“Above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your 'yes' be yes and your 'no' be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.” James 5:12
Hello sweet Mummas,
Good morning, Good morning!! I hope the sun is shining for you wherever you are. I am stoked to join in with your motherhood day today in a little way to say - Hi! Your not alone, let’s do this thing together!! I just recoded next weeks podcast all about the chaos that went down in my house one night. It happens, and we get through it and see all the glory that was waiting on the otherside of meltdowns, vomit, dead rabbit heads and flooding laundry sinks hahaha.. look out for that one next ;).
As we know motherhood isn’t always glorious in its outlook, actions or experiences. However as we also know in this community motherhood is ALWAYS glorious in the truth of what it IS. It is truely of the heavens to create life, bring forth life, nurture life and then guide these sweet kingdom carriers in the ways of their good King amongst this darkened world. Let’s not loose sight of the precious gift of glory this thing really is!
This weeks PODDY: ‘Marriage - with Brad and Ellie’ is now out! Talking about what we have learnt and some keys in marriage from the years! enjoy!

Real Life in the motherhood journey:
A little glimpse from our week!
Here are a few cute clips from our past week! We left our little farm and headed back to our old home where we got to spend some time with family (and unfortunately not friends as our babies were sick). We also got to celebrate Brads sisters wedding which the kids dressing up for flower girl and ring men were suppper cute. Thankful to be home and doing our everyday on the property again.
Meal plan for the week! Get some ideas!
Day of the Week | Dinner |
---|---|
Monday: | Home made rissols and salad |
Tuesday: | Curry |
Wednesday: | Burritos |
Thursday: | Home made peanut chicken skewers with potatos |
Friday: | Sourdough pizza |
Saturday: | Enchiladas |
Sunday: | Left overs after church |
Once upon a time I found meal planning very overwhelming. I would for some reason start from scratch each fortnight that I needed to think up 14 brand new meals/think of something everyone already actually liked. It took me a while to find my groove. I then realised I can do themed days. And so meal planning got super quick. Every week we did pizza on friday, leftovers on sunday, a curry on tuesday, a burrito on wednesday and then I would just need to think of 1 more meal that we like already and I liked to add in 1 new meal to try. It gets mixed up as I please and for whats on, but this is my go to. Now my meal planning takes a max of 5-10mins a fortnight. Wahoooo
Walking in His truth:
Let’s dive into some of God’s good truth and enjoy His goodness together. Remember last week when I was sharing about wisdom…. well the end of that little section in James 1 shares that we need to not be double minded. When we ask for wisdom BELIEVE we will get it and do not hold doubt in our hearts. When reading the last line about how frail and hopeless we become when we are double minded I was reminded of todays verse, “let your yes be yes and your no be no’.
Something I was convicted of in my life as a wife, mother and woman is that often I can get so obsessed with what is ‘right’ that I can do things half heartedly or in stress cause I dont actually believe in it, but I know its right to do. so I try do it anyway. This is not good.
This concept of NOT being double minded enables confidence, faith and authentic growth. I am now aiming to make a decision and have a firm yes (which helps me follow through, keep to my word and be trustworthy to my husband and kids). If I want to say no, then I follow through the same. In this process I ask for wisdom and don’t overthink or over worry. I just keep moving forward believing God will give me wisdom on the topic. There is so much more peace found in this place and it releases me from so much burden and worry.
In this place there is less reliance on Ellie being right all the time and instead God being the leader, the defender, the guider and the grace giver!
As God always reminds me. I don’t need to be great, He needs to have a chance to be great for me. Ahhhhh He is so kind!
Love always
