The Motherhood Journey Newsletter - Week 24

Spirit Soul Body

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Hello Sweet Mummas,

Hello in this space! Welcome, welcome! We are ending a week together today. Ready for a blessed and joy filled weekend. Something I have been learning is that my joy and peace don’t need to be determined by my circumstances. So whatever circumstances you face this weekend, joy and peace can be yours! how? More on this in the God spot at the end…..

For now, let’s chat, connect about being mums and that truth the Gods goodness goes beyond our own every time. He is here, kind and ready. More willing then even you are to do this together and to enjoy it and smash it!!

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 16:11

Real Life in the motherhood journey:

A little glimpse from our week!

Continuing to enjoy country life. It is so fun driving into our small town, seeing people we know all the time, seeing what different events or markets are on and enjoying exploring so much more of Australia then I used to know with all the travel I need to do now living so far away from everything. This week went slower than normal as I was hit by mastitis again (very random) thankfully was a chill version (ill share below what I do to combat it). It was really nice to slow down and rest with the kiddos. In our house kids do daily chores and if they wish to go above and beyond offering their services as extra they can then earn pocket money for things they are saving for. This week Haze hit her $50 mark to buy her baby doll she has been saving for months for. And her brother started increasing his kitty for some lego. Because I was a bit down and out, we challenged the kids to see how much money they could earn. They took it on and learnt SO many new skills around the house which was such a cool opportunity for us to see what they are capable of, for them to help me out and for them to learn so many new skills. Here are some pics below that share some fun times.

Get some ideas!

Mastitis…. let’s chat!

I have gotten this thing almost 15 times in the last almost 7 years of parenthood. It is not fun for sure!! I have thankfully never had to take any medicine or do medical procedures (although Im prone to getting it) so thought it could be helpful to share what I do.

First of all, I very much believe that getting mastitis is NOT the portion for those who are new creations in Christ. Sickness has no right in our bodies and I think coming to a genuine belief in this is (and has been for me) a huge strengthening and defense against this coming on. I chose to really stand in this after giving birth to my fourth and only got it badly once. which was a miracle compared to my two previous boys where I got it weekly.

Secondly, we need to take care of our bodies. I changed things drastically in how i cared for myself with Flo. Boosting our immune system and nourishing the body (with food, rest and taking care of your mind) is so important with this! My midwife always told me mastitis is a huge call that your body needs to slow down and recoop a bit.

Some ideas:

Prevention: (nourish and support body)
-Drink way way more water day and night then you would think ( i think i looked up its 16 cups for a breastfeeding woman daily)
-I have an over supply of milk, so for the first few months of newborn life peppermint tea/herbal mineral enriching tea and avoid milk producing food (like oats)
-Nourishing food - heaps of protein and I made myself a bone broth soup and froze in portions to have daily. Avoiding processed sugary foods.
- QIARA probiotic for pregnant and breastfeeding (have not tried this but heard its good)
- Taking life slow and protecting your mind from jumping to stress and over thinking.

Cure: (give the body a chance to heal)
- TOP TIP: Stay lying down unless you need to pee (seriously!) Whenever I feel Mastits creeping in I shift everything so I can lie down as much as possible. Not just sitting. If its mild, ill do the basics of the day and lie down as much as I can. If I have serious infection (fever) then I will switch off for the day (when possible) and do the remedies and literally stay lying down all day.
-Garlic antibiotic shot: mince 4-5 raw garlics and swallow with water
-herbal and mint tea all day (add honey and lemon if possible. I do nettle, hibiscus and any organic herbal blends I have from the market.
-Drink water non stop (with good quality pinch of salt if possible to help absorbtion)
- nourishing foods and no junkie food or coffee at all
-any supplements (vit C or zinc, I take my liver supplement and some of Brads AG1 or any green powders)
-Feed baby as much as possible
-Cabbage leaves on boobs
-Ice on boobs
- Homeopathic medicine: Phyto 30c (this was a game changer)
* ofcourse this is what I personally did. every body will be different. This would always heal me up in a couple of days. Seek more help if it gets more serious.

If you want any more info on this stuff contact me!! would love to help any mumma who struggles with this as it has been a big battle for me in the past!!

Walking in His truth:

Okie…. my fav part! Lets chat about the bible and our good King together! yay!!
The verse for today, we have all heard many times. However today I wana dive into the power of it with you all a little more.

I have been listening to this series and its been full of such good revelation. It has been blessing and refreshing my faith and bringing lots of conviction which is amazing!

The power of this truth ‘YOU ARE A NEW CREATION’ Is that your Spirit is what is completely new. We have a body, spirit and soul. When we are saved do we change to look like Christ physically? no. Do we suddenly have no emotional struggles the next morning? no. What DOES change is our spirit. It becomes ONE with Christ and we become completely clean and new and pure and holy and righteous. Our body and mind (soul) must be trained to come under the authority and rule ship of our Spirit which now functions as CHRIST. And this my sisters is how God sees us. He sees us not through the flesh, but the Spirit. And because of this we can approach His throne boldy. We are accepted and cherished for when he sees us He sees His son.

What an honour! its too much to comprehend. Praise His name.

Because of this!! We can choose to continually turn our affections, focus and thoughts to the truth of the Spirit, rather then the flesh. IN this place we can find this true joy, this true peace that is promised us. Its not gonna just ‘happen’ because its not found in what we see think or feel (our 5 senses). its only found in His spirit. And where is this found?

In Gods word:” The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” John 6:63

This is such a journey. But a wonderful one it is. We can at any moment, turn to the truth of Gods word found in our Spirit and rejoice. For He has done it all!

Love always
